PARIS, April 25 -- French telecommunications equipment maker Alcatel said it will cut 650 jobs worldwide at its Alcatel Space operations this year.
About 350 jobs will be cut in France, the company said today. Alcatel will close its space operations in Denmark, cutting 100 jobs, and in Norway, cutting 130 jobs. Its space operations in Switzerland are also expected to be sold in the near future, with a loss of 70 jobs.
Alcatel Space currently employs 6,000; 4,800 are in France.
