ANAHEIM, Calif., March 21 -- Alcatel Optronics, JDS Uniphase and Nortel Networks announced at OFC 2002 a multisource agreement (MSA) for 960 to 980 nm pump lasers in uncooled mini-DIL packaging. Designed for terrestrial erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA) used in metro and long haul optical systems, these pump lasers offer system designers reduced size, electrical consumption and cost, the companies said.
