PARIS, June 14 -- Alcatel has announced the signing of a five-year agreement to modernize Telecom Egypt's national telecommunication infrastructure. The Nile Vision Plus agreement is for the extension and upgrade of the network, enabling the connection of 1.5 million more lines in the Delta and Alexandria regions. It includes training, professional services and expertise. The contract follows the Nile Vision project awarded to Alcatel in 1997.
Alcatel will be in charge of the overall project management, including demand forecast analysis, network planning, design, deployment, integration and network operation support. An initial order has been placed for 340,000 lines in urban and rural Delta regions.
