Agilent to Acquire Adaptif
SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 30, 2007 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. is acquiring Adaptif, a private maker of polarization analysis and control technology for testing optical components and systems in telecommunications, sensors and laser markets, the companies announced today. Financial details were not disclosed.
Agilent said it plans to sell Adaptif Photonics products upon closing, which is expected in June. All Adaptif employees are expected to join Agilent, it said in a statement.
Agilent said the acquisition will enhance its instrument portfolio for fiber-optic test and "will help Adaptif’s and Agilent’s customers obtain comprehensive insight into their optical components and high-speed optical network designs with a full spectrum of test solutions."
Adaptif is associated with the optical center at the Hamburg University of Technology and has developed extensive intellectual property in optical measurement product development.
Alois Hauk, photonic and network test division vice president and general manager, said, “This acquisition is one step in a series of actions we have taken to strengthen our optical test and measurement offerings and allows us to offer a full range of electrical and optical test equipment for high-speed broadband network designs."
