PLAINVIEW, N.Y., Jan. 2 -- Aeroflex Inc. has received contracts from two fiber optic module manufacturers for microelectronic thin-film assemblies worth more than $12 million. The thin-film assemblies are used in advanced OC-48 and OC-192 receivers, transmitters and lithium niobate modulators. The orders will ship throughout the next nine months, said Aeroflex. The fiber optic device arena has clearly emerged as our single fastest growing market segment, said John Buyko, senior vice president for Aeroflex microelectronics.
