Rob Saloman has been appointed general manager, Canada, for Acme Packet, a Burlington, Mass.-based provider of border control session services, which enable service providers to deliver interactive communications -- voice, video and multimedia sessions -- across IP network borders. Saloman will be based in Ottawa, where Acme Packet is establishing a Canadian sales and service office. He was formerly vice president, sales and marketing at Nakina Systems, a network and element management company, His previous positions included vice president, metro sales and market development, at Nortel and vice president Canadian Sales at Cambrian Systems; he has also held sales and marketing positions at Newbridge and Mitel. He has served on advisory boards at Sir Sanford Fleming College (Scotland), BTI Photonic Systems Inc. and Meriton Networks.
