4D Technology Names James Millerd President
4D Technology Corp. cofounder James Millerd, PhD, has been named president of the company, a maker of optical metrology instruments for astronomy, aerospace, data storage, semiconductors and other industries, the Tucson, Ariz.-based company announced today. Millerd succeeds John Hayes, who is retiring. Hayes will remain on the board of Directors. ”James Millerd brings significant expertise in optical metrology and leadership to the role of president,” said James Wyant, chairman. “Dr. Millerd has been a key decision maker since 4D’s inception, as well as a driving force in the development and commercialization of vibration-insensitive interferometry.” Millard, who said 4D is developing new products of Irvine, Calif. He has also held leadership and engineering positions with MetroLaser Inc. and TRW’s Space and Technology Group. Millerd has published more than 30 publications and numerous patents and awards for his work in optical measurement and real-time interferometry. He received a BS in physics and electrical engineering from California State University, Chico (1987) and was his graduates degress in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California.
