High speed Spectrophotometers have recently become available for the study of high speed events. In some cases, these events occur within a fraction of a second. To fully characterize these events, the full spectra has to be obtained in less than a millisecond. This white paper describes a mid infrared spectrophotometer that can obtain the spectra from 1.3 to 4.8 microns in less than 1 millisecond. The utilization of this spectrometer in emission spectroscopy is highlighted in the paper. Sample results of temperature and gas concentration estimation in turbulent flames is shown in the paper. In addition, a visible spectrophotometer that can obtain full spectra in less than 20 microseconds is also described.
