About This Webinar
The mission of the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) is to transform through technology development, their understanding of disease and its prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment. As one of the 27 Institutes at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the NIBIB focuses on supporting the development of tools and technologies in the domain of biomedical imaging and bioengineering.
This talk highlights NIBIB's perspectives, initiatives, and funding opportunities with special emphasis on the field of optical imaging and spectroscopy. These initiatives include Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx), NIBIB-supported phantom libraries, development of optical imaging phantoms, quantum sensing in biomedical applications, and various training opportunities.

About the presenter
Afrouz Anderson, Ph.D., is a program director at the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). She received her doctorate in biomedical engineering from the University of California, Davis and NIH and completed her postdoctoral degree at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). She has experience in several aspects of biomedical and imaging research during work for industry and within the non-profit and health care sectors focusing on translational biophotonics and utilization of multi-modality imaging in clinical populations. In her current role at NIBIB, she oversees research activities in the field of biophotonics, develops inter-agency initiatives related to biomedical imaging, and manages the optical imaging and spectroscopy portfolio.
