About This Webinar
Frequency comb technology has emerged as a cornerstone of modern science and technology, revolutionizing various fields with its unparalleled precision and versatility. The last few years have seen extraordinary progress in the maturation of this technology, expanding the achievable wavelengths from the visible to the mid-infrared spectral regions, and enabling cutting-edge applications spanning precision spectroscopy to quantum computing.

In this webinar, Thomas Quenzel from Menlo Systems delves into the fundamental principles behind frequency comb generation and manipulation, shedding light on its transformative potential across multiple spectral domains. He shares about the world of precision measurement, where frequency combs serve as indispensable tools for metrology, spectroscopy, and beyond. From ultraprecise optical clocks to high-resolution molecular spectroscopy, discover how frequency comb technology enables unprecedented levels of accuracy and resolution in scientific research and industrial applications. For a seasoned researcher, industry professional, or enthusiast who is eager to uncover the cutting-edge developments in frequency comb technology, this webinar offers valuable insights and inspiration. Join as Quenzel unravels the vast potential of frequency comb technology and its transformative effect on the future of science and technology.

Who should attend:
Researchers, engineers, and manufacturers who use optical frequency combs in their work and those who are interested in gaining a further understanding of the technology. Those who work with laser systems, spectroscopy, or quantum computing in industries such as aerospace, automotive, biophotonics, pharmaceuticals, or semiconductors. Anyone who is interested in the progress of frequency combs in the visible to mid-infrared spectral region.

About the presenter:
Thomas Quenzel studied photonics at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer, Germany. He advanced his studies during the master’s course in engineering physics with specialization in lasers and optics at the Carl-von-Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Germany. He is currently a doctoral candidate after completing his thesis about nonlinear optical parametric amplifier development and their use in time-resolved nonlinear spectroscopy of complex many body systems in the group of Professor Christoph Lienau. Quenzel has been employed as junior product manager for optical frequency combs since October 2023.

Alexander Kastner, Ph.D., studied physics at and received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich. He received his doctorate from the University of Kassel on ultra-fast photoelectron spectroscopy using femtosecond lasers. He joined Menlo Systems as a development engineer in 2019. In 2021, he became group leader on laser development at Menlo. The group is focused on industrial grade laser systems for nonlinear processes as well as frequency combs in the near- and mid-IR spectral region. Menlo was part of the EU-funded quantum flagship project Qombs using mid-IR frequency combs to combine the ease of use of quantum cascade lasers with the accuracy of frequency combs. Mid-IR frequency combs were used in an industrial environment enabling process control of plasma nitriding processes within the project InPro-F.

Dag Schmidt, Ph.D., studied physics at the technical university in Karlsruhe and the Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen, Germany. He specialized in quantum-optics, and atom- and laser-physics and gained his diploma and doctorate in physics at the University of Tübingen, in the group of Dr. Claus Zimmermann. He joined Menlo Systems in 2017 as a field service engineer. Since 2018, Schmidt has been working as product manager for optical frequency combs at Menlo Systems, adapting these high-tech systems to the demanding applications of our customers. Additionally, since 2022, he has also been responsible for quantum laser systems, which provide sub-Hz CW-laser outputs for high-end applications like quantum computing or sensing and optical clocks.
