About This Webinar
The advancement of AI has changed the landscape of machine vision. As the understanding of what applications AI in machine vision can help solve broadens, manufacturers must adjust their offerings to provide solutions for these new potential sectors. IDS is aware of the increasing interconnectivity of not only manufacturing but also of other industries and commercial spaces. These fields tend to require less precise synchronization of interconnected systems, but devices still need to be able to communicate a result fast to keep the system operating.

With the newest platform under the family of NXT devices, the Malibu, IDS Imaging has this keenly in mind. Live streams of real-time images and results will improve applications such as cashier-less stores, loss prevention, and real-time footfall analysis. The new platform will also fit in industrial applications such as analyzing equipment wear, monitoring chemical reactions, and AI-assisted visual inspection to ensure a high degree of safety and quality. Traditionally, vision application development demands both strong knowledge of image processing techniques as well as general programming skill. Developing these solutions with an embedded system in mind adds further challenges due to not only these platforms’ focus on efficiency but also learning how a particular edge device interfaces with other systems in a solution. This webinar demonstrates the new NXT Malibu’s capabilities and how it can help solve applications that need fast results from a secure edge device.

Who should attend:
Anyone who is curious about how AI in machine vision works at a high level as well as those who are interested in what possible applications AI in edge devices could assist with. Engineers, manufacturers, managers, and consultants who use camera and imaging technology in industries such as aerospace, agriculture, automation, biophotonics, energy, medical, and semiconducting.

About the presenter:
Kevin McCabe is a senior application engineer at IDS Imaging Development Systems Inc. He joined IDS Imaging in 2012 as an application engineer and is responsible for technical inquiries across North America. He currently focuses on helping other engineers integrate IDS 2-D, Ensenso 3-D, and NXT AI Inference cameras and provides in-depth product training to customers, distributors, and resellers to ensure a quick time to market. Throughout his 11 years at the company, McCabe has helped integrate IDS cameras into applications such as bin picking, palletizing and de-palletizing, logistics automation, quality assurance, and ITS. He holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
