About This Webinar
Multiple industries are now requiring high performance from their optical systems while also minimizing the size, weight, and power of system designs. To meet these engineering challenges, a process known as light-weighting has begun to gain traction among many cutting-edge optical fabrication and design companies. Light-weighting is a process in which alternative materials and design concepts are utilized to extract any unnecessary volume from an optical system.
Fiore explores the use of polymer optics, precision glass molded aspheric lenses, and alternative optical housing materials to achieve light-weighting initiatives. He will touch upon weight-sensitive applications in which light-weighting is utilized in the defense and consumer electronics industries. Applications include head-mounted displays for augmented reality and complex night-vision optical assemblies currently used by militaries worldwide.
