MoviTHERM Non-Destructive Test System for Composite Materials
MoviTHERM Composite-Check is a turnkey Infrared Non-Destructive Test System for detecting defects in composite materials. Typical defects are voids, delaminations, disbands, foreign material and debris, core crush, impact damage and lighting strikes among others. Thermal or Infrared Non-Destructive Testing is an alternative method to performing Ultrasound NDT. IR-NDT is faster, since it allows for large area inspection of defects using a thermal camera. In our solutions we are using FLIR Infrared cameras in combination with our non-destructive test system. The two most commonly used excitation sources for infrared non-destructive testing are either halogen lamps or Xenon flash lamps. Flash lamps are used for Flash or Pulse Thermography and Halogen lamps are used for Transient Thermography. Flash Thermography in composite materials is good for surface and surface near defects to about 2 mm in depth. For defects located deeper than that, we recommend using halogen excitation with a Transient Thermography setup.
