Verdi G7 Laser
Coherent Inc.Request Info
SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 27, 2010 — Coherent Inc. has released the Verdi G7, the highest power level yet for the company’s Verdi G family of low-noise CW lasers based on next-generation optically pumped semiconductor laser (OPSL) technology.
Intended for pumping Ti:Sapphire laser systems, the new device delivers high reliability and a low noise of < 0.03% rms. Additionally, it delivers a minimum power of 7 W in a TEM00 output beam.
The gain medium in OPSLs is a semiconductor chip which has a near-zero upper state lifetime, eliminating the “green noise” component of laser output noise found in 532-nm diode-pumped solid-state lasers operating on multiple longitudinal modes.
Because it does not suffer from thermal lensing effects, its output power can be smoothly adjusted with no effects on beam quality, divergence or beam pointing. In addition, its efficient design means it uses only a single diode array.
It is suitable for pumping ultrafast and CW Ti:Sapphire laser systems for applications in spectroscopy, pump-probe dynamics and materials research.
