Matrox Imaging has introduced the Odyssey XCL -- a single vision processor board that provides data acquisition and processing at rates on the order of hundreds of megabytes per second. It uses Motorola's G4 PowerPC microprocessor and a high-density chip called the Oasis ASIC to provide up to 120 BOPS. Compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP, QNX Neutrino and Linux, the board can connect to a PC host via a PCI-X interface, providing a peak bandwidth of up to 1 GB/s. It includes a Camera Link frame grabber for capturing pictures at up to 680 MB/s from one or two video sources and an internal video generator for troubleshooting installation and operation. It is designed for semiconductor, print and surface inspection, medical imaging and signal processing applications.
