IRVINE, Calif., April 7, 2011 — Toshiba Imaging Systems Div. has introduced its IK-HD1 and IK-HR1H cameras.
The IK-HD1 is a compact three-CCD camera with a remote head that measures 1.6 in. and weighs 2.3 oz. It delivers clear true-color imagery with 1920 × 1080 output at 30 fps. It has an RS-232C serial interface and features automatic and manual white balance. Optional accessories include 3-, 6-, 10- and 30-m cables, and a 4- or 15-mm lens. It is used in scientific imaging, diagnostics, homeland security, industrial video and inspection applications. It delivers a signal-to-noise ratio of ≥54 dB and operates over a temperature range of 0 to 40 °C.
The IK-HR1H is a 1/3-in. progressive-scan CMOS high-definition camera with an ultrasmall remote head that measures 1.18 × 1.37 × 1.41 in. Features include automatic and manual white balance, and automatic and manual electronic shutter. The camera is C-mount lens-ready, and 3-, 5- and 10-m cables are available as options. For added flexibility, two versions of this lightweight camera are available for applications where space is limited. One version, the IK-HR1CD, offers an 8-bit RGB DVI-I connector and DVI-I with selectable outputs of 1080p at 60 fps, 1080i at 30 fps and 720p at 60 fps. The second model, the IK-HR1CS, features high-definition SDI output with 1080i at 30 fps and 720p at 60 fps.
The cameras are being used in camera-car rigs to chase storms for the Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers series, to capture feature film background plates for process playback, to capture 3-D imagery, and in many other film, TV, sports, documentary, drama and Internet productions.
