TeraScan ultra from TOPTICA Photonics is an ultrahigh-precision comb-locked cw-terahertz platform. TeraScan ultra is designed for applications that require the ultimate stability of the frequency and phase of THz signals. It functions by using two diode lasers that are locked into a single frequency comb, and a photomixer emitter converts their beat signal to a tunable, monochromatic THz wave. The platform uses TOPTICA’s endless frequency shifter, where the output of the tunable laser remains controlled even during a frequency scan. The system combines a bandwidth of 5 THz with single-Hz frequency resolution.
