CO2 turning mirrors and reflectors for lasers used in etching, engraving, cutting, hole drilling and welding are available from the Laser Research Optics Div. of Meller Optics Inc. The mirrors are made either from silicon for standard applications or from hard molybdenum for dirty industrial environments. Total reflectors for intercavity use, phase retardation reflectors for controlled polarization and spectral performance, and zero phase reflectors also are available. The mirrors and reflectors are designed for 25- to 200-W lasers and optimized for 10.6 μm at a 45° area of interest. They have diameters from 1/2 to 3 in. and are 2 to 10 mm thick. Absorption and scatter losses are <2%.
