Compact solid-state laser rangefinders with an eye-safe beam of 1535 nm have been announced by Erbium Technology Co. Ltd.
With reduced size, weight, and power, the 60-g devices deliver a high repetition rate and burst mode capability to allow for the acquisition of telemetry data from fast moving targets or while on-the-move sensing. The erbium, diode-pumped transmitter is a glass, passively Q-switched, solid-state laser. The transmitter can be engineered to match the physical dimensions of the active laser components and the sub-mm-size laser spot.
