HERTFORDSHIRE, UK, May 9, 2006 -- Photonic Products, a manufacturer of electro-optical subassemblies and
optoelectronic components and a high-performance industrial laser
diode distributor, announced the launch of a new high-visibility, short
wavelength laser diode from Sanyo, rated to 50 °C,
which offers a very high optical output power of 40 mW continuous wave
with a low threshold current of 60 mA in a 9 mm package. The
DL-LS1158 638 nm laser diode is part of a new range of laser diodes
being developed by Sanyo with a new diode type structure which results
in a greatly improved beam circularity ratio of 2:1, compared to the
previous beam circularity ratio of 4:1, according to Photonic Products.
The improved beam circularity results in greater efficiency and
consequently significant cost savings for OEMs and, combined with the
high optical output power and high visibility, makes it an ideal laser
diode for use as a light source in laser displays, laser levellers and
line-markers, bar-code scanners, machine vision and medical and dental
imaging applications, Photonics Products said.
Supplied in a 9
mm package, the Sanyo DL-LS1158 laser diode has a high output power of
40 mW continuous wave at a visible wavelength of 638 nm, a low
threshold current of 60 mA, low operating voltage of 2.4 V, typical
operating current of 100 mA, a differential efficiency of 1.0 mW/mA,
monitoring output current of 0.4 mA and an operating temperature range
of -10 to +50 °C. It requires a negative (N type) power supply system.
The
Sanyo DL-LS1158 laser diode is PB-free in compliance with the RoHS
Directive (restrictions on the use of certain hazardous substances in
electrical and electronic equipment). For more information, visit: www.photonic-products.com; e-mail: [email protected]
