The Epitex D-Series of SWIR LEDs from Ushio achieves a two-fold improvement of output and efficiency over its predecessor for the majority of wavelengths.
Low-power chips are mounted in surface-mount technology packages and molded-type LEDs, while 1-mm2 high-powered chips can be mounted in EDC, SMBB, and TO-66 packages. High-power models feature a forward current of 1 A and a gain boost of up to 4× the original radiated power output. The resulting efficiency improvement provides a more economical power output. The series features a range of wavelengths between 1000 and 1750 nm with many customization options such as multi-chip packages or specific wavelength output.
Applications include biological tissue characterization, biometrics, blood analysis, counterfeit detection, machine vision, material identification, medical sensors, optical sorting, retinal scanning, spectroscopy, wafer inspection, and more.
