VIENNA, Austria, May 18, 2010 — Femtolasers Produktions GmbH has unveiled the FemtoSource Rainbow ultrafast Ti:sapphire oscillator with Carrier Envelope Phase (CEP) stabilized short optical pulses and multiple simultaneous outputs centered at 800 and 1030 nm, with 100% mutual synchronization guaranteed.
Applications include amplifier/optical phase conjugation power amplifier seeding, coherent terahertz generation, optical coherence tomography, multiphoton microscopy and time-resolved spectroscopy.
The rugged CEP stabilization is based on proprietary difference frequency generation technology that requires neither an interferometer nor nonlinear broadening of the spectrum. The modular design enables upgrade of a non-CEP-stabilized to a CEP-stabilized oscillator.
The company’s dispersive mirror technology generates clean ultrafast laser pulses and provides broadband intracavity group delay dispersion compensation. High contrast is achieved by controlling the intracavity dispersion over one octave. The technology enables oscillators with fewer components (no intracavity elements except the gain medium), directly reflected in high passive stability. The robust mechanical package and integrated BeamAlign beam pointing stabilization deliver ultrafast performance with reliability and ease of use.
Intracavity high-order dispersion is eliminated with near-bandwidth-limited sub-7-fs pulses, and an extracavity dispersion control unit provides precise dispersion control outside the oscillator to transmit pulses to the target. The intracavity dispersion is not sensitive to cavity alignment, producing good reproducibility and stability. The system features low energy noise and timing jitter.
Bandwidth at -10 dB is >260 nm, average mode-locked output power is >200 mW, and pulse energy and peak power at 78 MHz are >2.2 nJ and >350 kW, respectively. Beam diameter (1/e2) is <2.5 mm, beam divergence is <2 mrad, horizontal polarization is >100:1, and noise, measured from 10 Hz to 100 kHz, is <0.1% rms. Power stability is ±1%.
