Cognex Corp. has introduced the acuFinder, a rotation and scale-invariant pattern-location software and hardware package for robot guidance applications. The system is designed to locate parts that are randomly oriented at up to 360 degrees of rotation or that change in size from 50 to 200% of the original size. Unlike traditional binary systems, acuFinder uses gray-scale image analysis, which provides accurate and repeatable results regardless of changes in lighting. A DLL interface is compatible with Windows operating systems.
