The VPIdeviceDesigner version 2.7 from VPIphotonics is a simulation framework for analyzing and optimizing optical devices, waveguides, and fibers for integrated photonics applications. The design tool offers 2D and 3D full-vectorial finite-difference beam propagation and eigenmode expansion solvers for modeling optical devices and a set of semi- and full-vectorial finite-difference mode solvers for modeling straight and bent waveguides and fibers made of iso- and anisotropic materials. The VPIdeviceDesigner version 2.7 features a reworked S-matrix interface, an upgraded 3D geometry kernel, and dedicated classes for dispersive anisotropic and graded-index materials.
