Optical Spectrum Analyzer SoftwareBristol Instruments Inc. has announced its NuView software that converts its 438 Series Multiwavelength Meter into a high-resolution optical spectrum analyzer.

The software provides complete analysis of optical transceivers and wavelength-division multiplexing signals. The meter simultaneously measures the wavelength, power, and optical signal-to-noise ratio of as many as 1000 discrete optical signals. It also provides high accuracy, a measurement rate of up to 10 Hz, and a broad operational range of 1000 to 1680 nm.

For a more detailed analysis, the NuView software generates and displays an optical spectrum with a resolution of >10 GHz for 0.08 nm at 1550 nm. This provides the ability to determine transceiver side-mode suppression ratio and to discriminate between closely spaced wavelength-division multiplexing channels.
