Southern Photonics has announced the introduction of a new product to its Coherent Solutions range. The IQScope-30G is an economical option for optical modulation analysis. With 30 GHz of bandwidth, it complements the higher-speed IQScope and is suited for measuring 100-Gb/s signals.
It takes advantage of the high bandwidth and low noise of equivalent-time oscilloscopes, enabling accurate transmitter characterization with up to 2000 sample points per baud.
Because the IQScope is a separate unit that works with widely used equivalent-time oscilloscopes, it can be upgraded economically, ensuring that customers can always work at the cutting edge of research and development.
Supported modulation formats include binary phase shift keying, differential phase shift keying, quadrature phase shift keying, differential quadrature phase shift keying, and 16 and 64 quadrature amplitude modulation. Applications include modulator testing, R&D testing of transmitters, and chirp testing. Visualizations include constellation diagrams, vector diagrams, I&Q eye diagrams, intensity versus time, phase versus time and I&Q versus time.
The IQScope-30G works with readily available sampling oscilloscopes, providing an affordable solution to complex modulation analysis. It takes advantage of the large bandwidth and 15-bit resolution of sampling oscilloscopes to enable accurate measurements of higher-order complex modulation formats.
It can measure error vector magnitude, phase error, IQ phase error, IQ gain imbalance, IQ skew and signal-to-noise ratio.
