SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 2, 2010 — OmniVision Technologies Inc. has released an advanced automotive image sensor for wide field of view, multi-camera, and automotive machine vision applications.
The OV10630 system-on-a-chip sensor combines 1280 x 800 megapixel resolution with color high dynamic range and low-light sensitivity. It is built on a 4.2-µm pixel OmniPixel3-HS architecture to enable low-light sensitivity of 3.5 V/lux-sec to capture detail-rich, HD-quality color video in any environment.
The automotive sensor delivers scene reproduction in the most demanding light conditions to achieve a dynamic range of 110 dB in black and white, and more than 100 dB in color. It not only has the ability to accurately reproduce high-contrast scenes, but also employs auto dynamic range control to adjust to changing lighting and scene conditions for the production of clear, detailed and low-noise color image in any automotive situation.
In addition, its proprietary approach to generating HDR images reduces or eliminates many typical HDR image sensor artifacts, including motion ghost artifacts and other unwanted effects.
The OV10630 supports a digital video parallel port to provide fully-processed, display-ready color HDR video output in 8- or 10-bit YUV format, or 18-bit combined RAW RGB output with complete user control over formatting and data transfer. Fully unprocessed RAW data is also available in two 10-bit format images.
