OPTOCOUPLERS
Fairchild Semiconductor Corp. (See On Semiconductor)
Fairchild Semiconductor has released the FODM452 and FOD-M453 high-speed transistor optocouplers for line-receiver, output interface to CMOS-LSTTL-TTL, pulse transformer replacement and wide bandwidth analog coupling applications. The company says that coplanar construction and a proprietary shielding method on the silicon photodetector result in a common mode noise rejection that is 30% better, and that a five-pin, mini-flat housing reduces package volume by 35%, compared with similar devices. The optocouplers feature a high-speed transistor photodetector and a high-efficiency infrared LED, and they offer a 1-Mb/s bandwidth and switching times of <1 µs turn-on/turn-off. The devices are UL-approved and operate from 0 to 70 °C.
