Carl Zeiss MicroImaging GmbH has introduced the C LED stand for its Stemi DV4 stereomicroscope, which contains LEDs that illuminate specimens more brightly and homogeneously than halogen lamps do, with half the power consumption and a longer lifetime of about 25,000 operating hours. Users can choose between bright-field reflectance and transmission modes, or can use a mixture of both. Dark-field transmission is an optional upgrade. The stereomicroscope provides a 4:1 zoom range, an 8× to 32× standard magnification range and a 92-mm working distance.
