MORRISVILLE, N.C., April 19, 2023 — The OptoTEC MBX series of micro thermoelectric coolers from Laird Thermal Systems supports high-temperature applications with compact geometric space constraints.

Utilizing next-generation thermoelectric materials and advanced ceramic substrates, the devices offer micro footprints as small as 1.6 × 1.6 mm with thicknesses down to 0.9 mm. The packing fraction for thermoelectric materials enables high heat pumping densities up to 27 W/cm2 at lower operating currents than traditional thermoelectric coolers. They provide temperature stabilization in next-generation lidar systems for autonomous vehicles, pluggable optical transceivers for telecommunications and indium phosphide vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers used in various high-performance applications.
