UV Light Source for UV Adhesive Curing
Hamamatsu Corp. has introduced its newest UV spot light source unit, the Lightningcure LC-L3, featuring nine high-output UV-LEDs that emit at 365 or 385 nm, depending upon the model. It delivers high-output intensity of 250 mW/cm2 at 365 nm and 325 mW/cm2 at 385 nm, and a uniform light level output throughout the LED’s long lifetime of 20,000 h.
Other features include high stability, low heat emission so thermal effects on objects are minimized, and programmable light adjustments for individual LEDs. On/off switching and light level adjustment can be controlled on each LED, allowing creation of tailored irradiation profiles, and up to 16 steps can be input into a program. For additional flexibility, multiple LC-L3 units can be combined to irradiate large areas or a linear area. The light source is suitable for UV adhesive curing, UV ink drying, semiconductor and liquid crystal exposure, high-resolution optical microscopes and experiments requiring UV irradiation.
The unit monitors the temperature inside the head unit to control and maintain light intensity at a constant level, eliminating the need to make daily light-level checks.
Power consumption is =60 W, and operating temperature range is from -5 to 35 °C. The cooling method is forced-air cooling by high-pressure air or high-pressure nitrogen. The unit can be controlled via RS-232C, from a front operation panel or via an external control terminal. It does not have a monitor screen, so operation status cannot be checked during control by the toggle switches on the front operation panel or via the external control terminal. When it is controlled by RS-232C, the status can be checked because the reply is displayed on the communication screen.
