NORTH LOGAN, Utah, July 7, 2017 — MKS Instruments Inc. has announced a line of high-damage-threshold laser power sensors designed for continuous wave lasers with high-power densities and pulse lasers.
The Ophir 1000W-LP2-34, L1500W-LP2-50, 5000W-LP2-50, and FL600A-LP2-65 feature a new LP2 coating that provides a damage threshold of 10 kW/cm2 at 1-kW power. The coating also reduces reflection by absorbing 95 percent at most wavelengths with spectral flatness of ±1 percent from 0.2 to 1.1 µm.
The Ophir LP2 sensors cover a wide spectral range from 0.35 to 2.2µm. The 1000W-LP2-34 has a 34-mm aperture and can measure power from 5 to 1000 W and energy from 400 mJ to 300 J. Maximum average power density is 20 kW/cm2 at 50 0W and 10 kW/cm2 at 1000 W. The L1500W-LP2-50 has a 50-mm aperture and can measure power from 15 to 1500 W and energy from 500 mJ to 200 J. Maximum average power density is 10kW/cm2 at 1000W and 5.5 kW/cm2 at 1500 W. The 5000W-LP2-50 has a 50-mm aperture and can measure power from 20 to
5000 W. Maximum average power density is 20 kW/cm2 at 500 W and
5 kW/cm2 at 3000 W and 2.5 kW/cm2 at 5000 W. The FL600A-LP2-65 has a 65-mm aperture and can measure power from 500 mW to 600 W and energy from 600 mJ to 600 J. Maximum average power density is 33 kW/cm2 at 150 W and 11 kW/cm2 at 600 W.
