Tomahawk 6 Davisson from Broadcom is a co-packaged optics (CPO) Ethernet switch. It is designed for AI networks and delivers 102.4 Tbps of optically enabled switching capacity. It uses a TSMC compact universal photonic engine technology-based optical engines with advanced substrate-level multichip packaging to reduce the need for signal conditioning and minimize trace loss and reflections. The switch operates 200 Gbps per channel and interconnects with direct-receive-based transceivers as well as linear pluggable optics and CPO optical interconnects. It features field-replaceable external laser small-form-factor pluggable laser modules. The switch supports a scale-up cluster size of 512 XPUs and up to 100,000+ XPUs in two-tier networks at 200 Gbps per link.
