CrBlack Black Chromium Coating
Materion Balzers OpticsRequest Info
For applications in medical device lens systems, Optics Balzers has introduced the RoHS-compliant CrBlack chromium coating, a solution for reducing light scattering. The company has used the black chromium properties, to date applied predominantly in solar collectors and sunglasses, and adapted them to additional uses in medical devices and industry.
The optically black coating is distinguished by its high absorption capacity and its minimized reflection in the visible range. Its color hue can be tailored to customers’ specific requirements. For example, a black chromium part with a blue component can be produced.
The high adhesion of the coating on glass and metal in conjunction with its high application temperature of up to 250 °C enables uses in a wide variety of fields. The company’s CoatingPlus capabilities enable the coating to be patterned for demanding applications.
Features include good environmental stability and durability. The whole-surface or patterned coating can be easily cleaned following additional process steps.
