Interline CCD Camera
BELFAST, Norrthern Ireland, Jan. 11, 2010 – Andor Technology plc has announced higher performance for its Clara interline CCD camera. Based on measured quality control data from the first 200 cameras built, the company says that it has reduced the camera’s typical read noise to 2.4 electrons at 1 MHz and has improved its cooling performance. It offers cooling to -55 °C with internal fan only (no water required), complementing the -20 °C under fan-off (vibration free) operation.
Based around the 1.3-megapixel ICX285 sensor from Sony, the camera is engineered to deliver high sensitivity. Standard dynamic range is >6000:1 at 1 MHz, and higher with binning.
The proprietary UltraVac vacuum process and attention to thermal management produce the deep air-cooling performance, eliminate dark current from the noise floor and produce low read noise. Dynamic events can be followed with good quantitative stability via low-noise 10- or 20-MHz readout modes, with the data channeled through a USB 2.0 interface. The company’s iCam technology and input/output functionality enable good acquisition efficiency through live-cell microscopy software, and an accurate hardware-generated time stamp ensures temporal precision. The compact, robust design and accessible software development kit render the camera suitable for OEM integration.
The camera has an active area of 1392 × 1040 mm, an image area of 8.98 × 6.71 mm, a pixel size of 6.45 × 6.45 µm and a maximum operating frame rate of 11.6 fps.
