The 100G QSFP28 ZR4 BiDi from NEC Corporation is a single-fiber bi-directional optical transceiver for data center applications. The transceiver extends transmission distances to 80 km using a direct detection method rather than a coherent method and incorporates a high-output laser on the transmitting side and an optical semiconductor amplifier on the receiving side to provide a link budget of 30 dB. The 100G QSFP28 ZR4 BiDi features a bit rate of 103.125 Gb/s over ethernet and 111.8 Gb/s over OTU4 signal, an optical interface of 4 × 25.78 Gb/s, and a power consumption of 5.5 W or less.
