Attenuator for Photodetectors
MKS/NewportRequest Info
IRVINE, Calif., May 4, 2011 — Newport Corp. has introduced an attenuator design implemented for its Series 818 low-power photodetectors. Based on the same optics and clear aperture of the 918D series detectors, the design features a clear aperture with the size reduced to 10 mm to help the user more accurately align the detector to the input optical beam. The new window helps avoid detector overfilling, while the clearly visible crosshair on the new housing assists coarse alignment of the beam. The high-quality, low-power photodetector and the detector housing design remain the same.
Power levels are calibrated from picowatts to 2 W, and the detectors operate from 200 to 1800 nm. They feature matching patented and removable OD3 attenuators for each photodetector.
The detector and the attenuator serial numbers are carefully matched to ensure NIST traceability. For added user convenience, all detectors are available with a full-spectrum calibration report detailing detector responsivity in 10-nm increments, measured with and without the attenuator.
The photodetectors are made with high-quality semiconductor materials, including silicon, UV-enhanced silicon, germanium and indium gallium arsenide. The company’s in-house calibration facility performs calibration and recalibration services, further improving the absolute accuracy of all detector products.
