AFS60/AFM60 Absolute Encoders

MINNEAPOLIS, April, 8, 2013 — Sick has launched the AFS60 and AFM60, absolute encoders that provide EtherNet/IP, PROFINET RT and EtherCAT connectivity.

The single-turn AFS60 and the multiturn AFM60 feature an embedded switch functionality that reduces external switching components and reroutes data when cable breaks in the network are detected. Both devices have superior diagnostic functions, including temperature and acceleration monitoring, and a durable metal code disk that is resistant to shock and high temperatures. They also include a customizable resolution for customer-specific applications using resolution scaling or endless shaft functionality.

With an IP 67/65 protection rating, the encoders can be used in applications that require precise and reliable position accuracy with EtherNet/IP network connectivity including motion control, robotics, AGV, packaging and general manufacturing. Face-mount housing, servo flange and blind hollow housings are available.
