Lumenera Corp. has released a 5-megapixel color camera series for a variety of industrial and scientific applications, particularly those where high resolution and low-light performance are required. The CMOS cameras offer 7 fps at full 2592 × 1944-pixel resolution, and up to 60 fps at VGA resolution with full subwindow control. They feature a 1/2.5-in.-format sensor, a 60-dB dynamic range, onboard processing and DirectShow connectivity. Uncompressed images in live streaming video and still image capture are provided across a high-speed USB 2.0 interface (480 Mb/s). No frame grabber is required. Advanced camera control is available through a software developer’s kit, with sample code available to integrate camera functions into OEM applications. The cameras are offered in enclosed (Lw575) and board-level (Lw570) models and are compatible with Windows 98 SE, ME, 2K, XP and Vista.
