About This Webinar

The capabilities of smart cameras have increased dramatically over the past few years. Available image resolution has increased from 5 megapixels maximum to 21 megapixels. Processing power has quadrupled and is beginning to close the gap with PCs. The range of applications continues to expand as more sophisticated and easy-to-use image processing functions are incorporated into the smart camera's software. How do you stay on top of advances in camera technology, so you can incorporate them into your own applications?

This webinar explores the characteristics of smart cameras, how they have advanced, typical applications - and a couple of areas where the product offerings may not meet expectations.

You will learn:
  • What a smart camera is and how it differs from other general purpose machine vision systems;
  • How smart cameras reduce the cost of a machine vision application;
  • The different ways to program smart cameras;
  • Five examples of how smart cameras are solving unique machine vision requirements.
Who should attend: Engineering and technical professionals who want to learn more about smart cameras and their use for different industrial applications. Also, technical professionals who are involved in developing and/or implementing smart camera and/or machine vision solutions.

About the presenter: Perry West is the founder and president of Automated Vision Systems, Inc., a leading consulting firm in the field of machine vision. He has over 35 years of experience in machine vision which includes experience in system design and development, software development, optical engineering for both lighting and imaging, camera and interface design, education and training, manufacturing management and engineering management. He is a past president of the Machine Vision Association of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and a past recipient of the MVA/SME Chairman's Award. He received the AIA's annual Achievement Award in 2003.

This webinar is sponsored by Teledyne DALSA, an international leader in high-performance digital imaging and semiconductors.
