prism binoculars

A pair of telescopes with prismatically erected images, mounted side by side with the eyepieces at the interocular distance of the observer. This separation is adjustable with a convenient millimeter scale. The separation of the objective lenses is often greater than that of the eyepieces to give an enhanced stereoscopic effect. Binoculars are rated with the magnifying power and objective diameter in millimeters (e.g., 7 x 50).
