The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded a $2.75 million contract to dpiX, a subsidiary of Xerox, to develop high-resolution, reflective-mode display technologies for strategic and tactical information applications. The company has produced active-matrix liquid crystal displays with 7 million pixels that provide 300-dpi resolution over an 8.5 3 11-in. area. The resulting technologies could provide digital maps, real-time video and other displays for the battlefield.
