Zecotek Granted Medical Imaging Patent
SINGAPORE, July 15, 2011 — Zecotek Photonics Inc. was granted Patent No. 7,956,331 B2 by the US Patent and Trademark Office for a depth of interaction technology that was developed to provide improvements in the precision and the performance of positron emission tomography (PET) scanning and other medical detection systems, the company announced.
Zecotek and the University of Washington developed the technology under a joint PET-MRI development alliance. The partnership used Zecotek’s patented scintillation crystals and solid-state multipixel avalanche photodiode photodetector along with the university’s data acquisition methodologies and image reconstruction algorithms for new scanners.
The project is managed by Zecotek Imaging Systems (Singapore) Pte Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Zecotek.
Zecotek develops high-performance crystals, photodetectors, medical lasers, optical imaging and 3-D display technologies for commercial applications in the medical diagnostics and high-tech industry.
