Zecotek Appoints Director

SINGAPORE, Oct. 18, 2010 — Zecotek Photonics Inc. announced the appointment of Dr. Jalil Ali to its board of directors. Ali will act as independent director, advising on industry trends as well as providing additional industry expertise at the board level.

“Dr. Ali is a recognized expert in his field and we anticipate he will make a significant contribution, in particular as we are at the critical stage of bringint our MAPD devices into mass production,” said Dr. A. F. Zerrouk, chairman, president and CEO at Zecotek. “As the head of Malaysia’s Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnology, with deep connections in the regional semiconductor industry, he will add significant value in transactions with local manufacturers and markets.”

Ali presently serves as a professor of photonics ant the Institute of Advanced Photonics Science, Nanotechnology Research Alliance and the Physics Department at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He has also held numerous faculty and research positions at UTM from 1987 to 2010, and he played an instrumental role in establishing and forging university-industry collaborations in Malaysia.

Zecotek Photonics is a photonics technology company that develops products which include crystals, photodetectors, lasers, imaging and 3-D display technologies for medical, biotech, industrial, nanotech and atomic/molecular science applications.
