Veeco Appoints Gutierrez

PLAINVIEW, N.Y., Dec. 23, 2010 — Veeco Instruments Inc. has appointed Thomas Gutierrez to its board of directors.

Gutierrez is president, CEO and director of GT Solar International Inc., a provider of polysilicon production technology, and of sapphire and silicon crystalline growth systems and materials for the solar, LED and other specialty markets.

Before joining GT Solar, he was CEO and a member of the board of directors at Xerium Technologies Inc., and before that, was CEO of Invensys Power Systems.

Veeco manufactures LEDs, solar panels, hard disk drives and other devices.
