A center dedicated to advancing research in nanoelectronic technology and housing several photonics-related research projects was unveiled at the University of Toronto. Among the projects at the center is the study of transport and optical properties of low-dimensional quantum structures. Researchers there also will work toward fabricating a multitip scanning probe microscope array, along with modeling the interactions between a scanning probe microscope tip and semiconductor surface. The new center -- made possible by a $6 million donation -- is equipped with a wide range of facilities for thin-film deposition and in situ analysis. The center also has a specially designed scanning probe microscope. There are 272 suppliers of Microscopy in the Photonics Marketplace.
