Universal Display, Mitsubishi Chemical to Collaborate

Universal Display Corp., a Ewing, N.J.-based maker of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) products for flat panel displays, lighting and other optoelectronic applications, recently announced an agreement to collaborate with Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. and Mitsubishi Chemical Group Science and Technology Research Center Inc. to develop materials for phosphorescent OLED displays that are processible through solution or "wet" processing methods, such as inkjet printing. Printable phosphorescent OLED technology combines the efficiency of phosphorescent technology with the potential cost-effectiveness of inkjet printing in producing large-area OLED displays. Mitsubishi Chemical announced last year it had built the highest-efficiency printable blue phosphorescent OLED. Mitsubishi Chemical said it will accelerate its development of printable red, green and blue phosphorescent materials through the agreement with Universal Display.
