IRVINE, Calif., and VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Canada, March 20, 2012 — Toshiba Imaging Systems Div. of Irvine is collaborating with ISee3D Inc. of Vancouver to build an advanced 3-D microscope digital video system using Toshiba’s IK-HD1, three-chip-CCD high-definition camera.

ISee3D’s patented optical switch technology and its customized interface to the IK-HD1 camera will result in 3-D microscope images with highly magnified object detail. The system, which will offer a complete 3-D microscopy solution using a single camera, can be integrated into new systems or adapted to the installed base of microscopes for use in clinical, surgical and industrial microscopy applications.

ISee3D’s single-lens technology produces carefully aligned, perfectly matched images that can be displayed on a high-definition monitor to eliminate eye fatigue and ocular discomfort currently associated with prolonged 3-D microscopy viewing using dual cameras.

“We are finalizing our commercial 3-D microscopy system for introduction later this year,” said ISee3D CEO Terry Debono.

The companies will demonstrate the device March 20-21 at Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver.

ISee3D develops proprietary solutions to increase the performance of new and existing 3-D imaging systems.

Toshiba Imaging manufactures ultracompact, high-definition 3CCD cameras.
