TEMPE, Ariz., April 23 -- Three-Five Systems, Inc. has been chosen to work with Qualcomm, Inc. on a design for liquid crystal display (LCD) modules to be used in Qualcomm's fifth generation digital cellular telephone application. Shipments of the modules are scheduled to begin later this year, pending qualification of first production units by Qualcomm. Final production units will contain a liquid crystal display, display electronics and a backlighting system. The display modules will be incorporated into CDMA digital cell phones for distribution in the Americas and other markets that use the CDMA digital wireless communications standard.
