To support the development of new applications for high-performance digital signal processors, Texas Instruments Inc.has given $25 million to universities around the world. The establishment of the DSP University Research Fund is the latest effort by the company to find new applications for digital signal processors. The company also has established a $100 million venture capital fund and opened a research facility. Digital signal processors enable cellular phones, modems and hard drives to run faster and better, and new uses -- such as in digital TV -- are emerging.
